Cookie Policy
Last updated: April 18, 2026
1. What Are Cookies
Cookies and similar technologies (such as local storage and session storage) are small files or data stored on your device when you visit a website. They are widely used to make websites work efficiently, provide information to site owners, and improve the user experience. This policy explains which cookies and similar technologies Hackathons Plus Diagnostic uses and why.
2. Cookies We Use
We primarily use strictly necessary cookies that are essential for the Service to function. We do not use advertising, analytics, or tracking cookies.
| Cookie | Purpose | Duration |
|---|---|---|
| sb-*-auth-token | Supabase authentication session. Keeps you logged in across pages. | Session / 1 year |
| sb-*-auth-token-code-verifier | PKCE flow code verifier for secure authentication. | Session |
| redirectTo | Stores the page you were on before login so you can be returned there after authentication. | Session |
| challengeId | Stores a pending challenge ID through the authentication flow so it can be claimed after login. | Session |
| cookie_consent | Records your cookie consent preference so the banner is not shown again. | 1 year |
Because we only use strictly necessary cookies, your consent is not required for their use. The cookie_consent cookie records your preference regarding the cookie notice display.
Session cookies are deleted when you close your browser. Persistent cookies remain for the duration specified above unless deleted earlier.
These cookies are used on the basis of our legitimate interest in providing a secure and functional service, and, where required by law, are exempt from consent requirements as they are strictly necessary.
3. Third-Party Cookies
When you make a payment, Stripe may set its own cookies or similar technologies for fraud prevention, authentication, and secure payment processing. These cookies are governed by Stripe’s Privacy Policy, and we do not control their use. Stripe acts as an independent data controller for this processing.
We do not use any third-party analytics, advertising, or social media cookies.
4. Session Storage
In addition to cookies, we use your browser’s session storage (which is automatically cleared when you close the tab) to temporarily hold data during the diagnostic flow — for example, your challenge text while navigating between pages. This data is stored locally in your browser and is not accessed by third parties while in session storage. Data may be transmitted to our servers when required to deliver the Service (for example, to generate diagnostics).
5. Managing Cookies
Since all our cookies are strictly necessary for the Service to function, disabling them may prevent certain features (such as staying logged in) from working properly. You can manage or delete cookies through your browser settings:
Chrome: Settings → Privacy and security → Cookies and other site data
Firefox: Settings → Privacy & Security → Cookies and Site Data
Safari: Preferences → Privacy → Manage Website Data
Edge: Settings → Cookies and site permissions
6. Changes to This Policy
If we introduce new types of cookies (such as analytics or performance cookies), we will update this policy and request your consent before placing any non-essential cookies on your device.
